Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest for iOS is a retro, invade and conquer the galaxy, sorta game. Invade all the neighboring planets of a neon glowing solar system before your opponent to rule the galaxy; or be annihilated yourself and relegated to oblivion. This one is highly intriguing and loads of fun.
Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest presents in portrait mode to deliver a simple and rudimentary gaming environment that evokes memories of the old classic, Asteroids. It's good guys vs. bad guys in head-to-head play. As the story goes, it's all out galactic warfare, pixel style, in this simple but venomous galaxy comprised of a series of large and small planets, clustered so closely together, that virtually none of them can possess an orbit to speak of. It's red warships against blue warships, and the first team to dominate all the planets, wins. Each planet has a number on it, and your mission, is to employ strategy and logic to decide which planets you should invade first. Conquered planets produce more warships, and the larger the number on each invaded planet, the more dominance you'll garner over the galaxy as a whole. Your mission, is to overrun the galaxy with warships and change all the planets to your respective team color. Last one standing, wins.
The controls employ screen taps to deploy ships and garner dominance. The graphics are dripping with saturation and vibrancy in their depiction of very basic spheres and spaceships. The animation is definitely arcade style, with very simple and crude renders. The sounds added some blip blop punctuation to the classic play, and were effective.
Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest is just good fun that retro and strategy gamers are sure to love. It will certainly hold interest and entertain.
